Obituary
GREENE, Eugene Geddes - 69, Botwood, died October 8, 1992. Born in Bishop's Falls he was the son of the late John and Elsie (Warren) Greene. He was a member of the Newfoundland Ranger Force from which he joined the Newfoundland Constabulary and assisted with the Knights of Columbus fire on December 12, 1942. He Joined the Newfoundland Militia, Royal Artillery and on arrival in England with the Militia he transferred to the 166 Royal Newfoundland Regiment and served with the Regiment throughout the Italian Campaign and returned home in 1945. He worked with the Forestry and Fisheries Department in Botwood and from there worked in Churchill Falls until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Lidston; Three sons, Howard, Wayne and David, Ontario; two daughters, Sandra Lyver, Churchill Falls and Pauline Oulette, Valleyview, Alberta; Four grandchildren; five sisters, Dorothy Locke, St. John's, Vera Dempsey, Gander, Daphne MacDonald, Brampton, Ontario, Tephi Pepe, and Olga Greene, both of St. Catherine's, Ontario; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers, Garnet, Gilbert, Boyce and Edward. Funeral was from Trinity United Church, Botwood on October 12. The Royal Canadian Legion performed a graveside service in conjunction with the burial service.
