Obituary
NICHOLS, John (Jack) Ryall- (March 27, 1912-Jan. 22, 2005) Passed peacefully away at home on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, John Ryall Nichols, age 92 years. Predeceased by first wife Peggy (Kirkcaldy), second wife Marie (Butt), brother Peter, and sister Hilda Duff. Leaving to mourn sisters Mary Hiscock (St. John's) and Marjorie Hawkins (Sudbury, Ont.), children Anne Averiss (Richard), Katherine Shears (Claude), Robert (Marilyn) and Angus (Denise), 10 grandchildren: Jessica, Rebecca and Alexander Averiss, Carolyn, John and Mark Shears, Luke and John Nichols, and Bradley and Stacey Nichols. Jack was a member of the first contingent of Newfoundland Rangers, served with the RCAF during WWII, and practiced throughout Newfoundland as an optometrist for 35 years, retiring in 1982. At Jack's request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005 and Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services to be held at St. Michael's and All Angels Church, LeMarchant Rd. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Jack's memory may be made to St. Michael's and All Angels Church Memorial Fund.
