Obituary

BOWERING, Wallace Roy - 80, 23 Ervin Rd., Black Point, Pictou Co., died Friday, July 14, 2006, at his home. Born in Coley's Point, N.L., he was a son of the late Arthur and Florence (Dawe) Bowering. Wallace was a resident of Black Point for the past 20 years, having previously resided in Bridgeville, Pictou Co. He worked for several years with the Newfoundland Ranger Force until they amalgamated with the R.C.M.P. in 1949, and remained with them until his retirement in 1970. He later moved to Hamilton, Ont., where he worked for McMaster University for about seven years as a security officer, permanently retiring in 1978, at which time he moved to Bridgeville, Pictou Co.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby Hawkins, Black Point; son, Wally, Lower Sackville; daughter, Jeannette Martin, Ajax, Ont.; three grandchildren; sister, Sue (Larry) Smith, St. John's, N.L.; sister-in-law, Margaret Bowering, Bedford. He was predeceased by daughter, Valerie VanAlstine; brother, Rev. Nathan Bowering; sister, Mabel Bowering. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or memorial service at the request of the family. A private committal service will be held on Tuesday, July 18, in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour, with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Wallace may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
